River Oaks Men's Club Member,
Thank you to each one of you for your patronage of River Oaks Golf Course it is greatly appreciated. I hope all of you had a good golf season in 2007 and look forward to 2008. Our membership total in 2007 was 125 and I hope to have 150 members in 2008. If you have a friend who plays golf or is a member at a different club, tell them about River Oaks and get them to join in 2008 (all are welcome).
Our Annual Spring Meeting and Opening Golf Event will take place on May 3, 2008.
As in 2007 we will have a brief meeting along with breakfast starting at 6:30am and a 7:30am shotgun start with a great golf event for all. Mark this date on your calendar.
Congratulations to our 2007 Champions: Keith Erickson Club Champion, Pat McMorrow King of the Hill Champion, Blue Tee Champion Terry O’Donnell and White Tee Champion Tom Nelson. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
Again in 2008 we will have the River Oaks King of the Hill. Briefly, points will be awarded for how you play in scheduled men’s club events. The points will be accumulated over the golf season. Points will be doubled in the club championship. The King of the Hill Tournament will be on October 4, 2008. The ten golfers with the most points will compete. The final ten will be broken down to the “Fantastic Five”. Then there will be five man shoot out to determine the champion. Last years champion won over $300.00 in the final! By the way, great galleries watching the shoot-out!
Also in 2008 it is the River Oaks Ryder Cup Championship (same as 2006). There will be an USA Team and a European Team. Each team member receives an appearance fee and to right to play for the CUP. There will be a bagpipe ceremony to kick things off and Captains will draw teams. Each player will be introduced on the 1st tee. After the final group finishes #18, there will a closing ceremony, passing of the cup, and a champagne toast to the winners! A great day and all who register to play are in! In 2006 USA won.
Remember to check out our NEW (in February) web page for great discounts, event starting times, event results, demo days, specials, video golf lessons, play along all season on our PGA Tour Major Championship Golf Game. The winner receives $250, second place $150 and third $100, all in gift certificates.
Annual dues for 2008 will be $80.00 if paid prior to March 10th and $90.00 after that date. There will be a $6.00 entry fee charge for events (same as 2007) except for the opener which will be $11.00 to include breakfast. Optional skins are available for each event. Think Spring!
