River Oaks Men's Club Member,
Well after last winter 2011 compared to winter 2012, what a difference (so far). Hard to believe River Oaks was open January 9 & 10, let's cross our fingers for an early spring (mid March?) that would be nice!
Thanks to all members your business is much appreciated over the years. Also new golf carts fleet with windshields coming in 2012.
Congratulations to the following individuals: Club Champion Bob Rodriguez, King of Hill Champion John Carlson, Senior Club Champion Jeff Baker, Blue Tee Champion Jim Anderson, White Tee Champion Erik Svedin and Putting Champion Bob Garcia.
A request for 2012 has been made to change points for King of the Hill event. I feel this vote must be done in person to hear all issues, so at the opening event April 28th this issue will be put to vote following play. Currently points are awarded for how you finish in scheduled Men's Club events and points are doubled in the Club Championship. The final (10) with the most points go to the King of Hill Final, where these (10) play 18 holes and are then broken down to (5) by low net scores. Then a shoot begins for the final (5) for all the cash! Request for change would be that points awarded for King of Hill be accumulated only by individual events not team events. Plus one more request was made for a additional vote also.
In 2013 we will also have our 3rd Annual Putting Championship taking place during Club Championship. All will have a chance to wear the BELT as Champion! Lots of fun, all you need to do is putt well August 25 & 26.
Ryder Cup is back in 2012. Great event to play where teams will be selected to represent USA and Europe, with some good old fashion cheer taking place after event!
16 Man team change, members have requested that the golf shop take over the 16 man competition. The team will consist of Men's Club Members with the lowest handicaps in the club playing against other men's clubs in the metro area. Pairings and those playing will be done strictly by handicap. Please make a note if you are interested in playing on the squad this year on the Men's Club Application.
Annual dues for 2012 will be $88.00 if paid prior to March 1st, 2012 and $98.00 after that date (MGA increased handicap fees of $3.00 per person that is why the increase of $3.00). There will be a $6.00 entry fee charge for all events, with optional skin games.
