SORENSON WINS MINNESOTA PGA SECTION PROFESSIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN PLAYOFF
Past Champion Jeff Sorenson of Columbia Learning Center made birdie on the second play-off hole to defeat Don Berry of Edinburgh USA and capture the 2010 Minnesota PGA Section Professional Championship title at the Wilderness at Fortune Bay Resort in Tower, MN. Both players finished the event at 7-under par 137 and parred the first play-off hole (Hole #18) before Sorenson hit his third shot to less than a foot on the second play-off hole (Hole #1). After Berry missed his birdie attempt Sorenson tapped in for his third title in five years.

PAGE and TUTTLE PRO PRO
The team of Scott Cole from New Richmond GC and Chad Gustafson from White Bear Yacht Club shot a four-ball score of 65 to win the Page and Tuttle Pro-Pro Sunday, August 29th at Wilderness Golf Club at Fortune Bay Resort.

THREE SHARE LEAD IN MINNESOTA PGA SECTION PROFESSIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Past Champions Jeff Sorenson of Columbia Learning Center and David Tentis of Troy Burne GC share the first round lead in the Minnesota PGA Section Professional Championship with Brent Snyder of Troy Burne GC after all shot 4-under par 68's in difficult, windy conditions at Wilderness GC at Fortune Bay Resort in Tower, MN. Tied for fourth at 2-under par 70 is past champion Don Berry of Edinburgh USA and Scott McDonald of Windsong Farm GC.

BORGEN WINS ASSISTANT EVENT #5
Hastings Country Club Assistant Professional Chris Borgen shot a 1-under par 71 to win Assistant Event #5 at Dacotah Ridge Golf Club August 23rd. Finishing tied for second at 2-over par 74 were Eddie Wynne of StoneRidge GC and Tim Johnson of Legacy Courses at Craguns.

MURRA WINS WOMEN'S STATE OPEN
Amateur Karla Murra from Elmwood Park GC in Sioux Falls, SD chipped in for birdie on the final hole to win the 2010 Minnesota Women's State Open Championship by one stroke over professionals Julie Hennessy from Lewiston CC and defending champion Rachael Schmidt from Elk River GC. Schmidt shot the low round of the tournament with a 4-under par 68 but just fell short of Murra who shot a two-day total of 1-under par 143. Special thanks to Deer Run Golf Club for hosting the Championship.

HENNESSY LEADS WOMEN'S STATE OPEN
Professional Julie Hennessy from Lewiston CC shot 2-under par 70 to take the first round lead of the Minnesota Women's State Open Championship at Deer Run GC. One stroke back at 1-under par 71 is professional Lisa Grimes from Geneva GC and amateur Karla Murra from Elmwood Park GC. Defending champion Rachael Schmidt from Elk River CC shot 76.

3M CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT QUALIFIER
The Event Qualfier for the 3M Championship took place Monday, August 2nd at Victory Links Golf Course in Blaine, MN. Jim Rutledge of Victoria, BC shot 7-under par 64 to claim medalist honors.

Rask Wins Minnesota State Open
Professional Clayton Rask of Crystal Lake GC shot a final round 2-under par 70 for a 54-hole total of 11-under par 205 to win his first Minnesota State Open title at Bunker Hills Golf Club in Coon Rapids, MN. Rask never lost his lead in the final round and ended up winning by three shots over professional Bryce Hanstad of Alexandria GC. Hanstad shot a final round 8-under par 64 to finish at 8-under par 208 for the tournament.

Special Olympics Minnesota State Open Pro-Am
The 2010 Special Olympics Minnesota State Open Pro-Am took place Thursday, July 22nd at Bunker Hills Golf Club in Coon Rapids, MN. The 4th annual event paired a PGA Professional with two sponsors and a Special Olympics athlete for nine holes of golf and fun.
